Emergence, 2025
Emergence, a series of black-and-white and color works, explores the body as an abstract, shifting system of sensation and communication. Informed by Fox’s experience with sensory processing disorder, the photographs blur the boundaries between intimacy and alienation.
The series draws on psychoanalytic theory to frame the body as both emergent and unknowable, engaging themes of numbness, dissociation, and the body's resistance to legibility. This exhibition invites viewers to encounter the body as something that eludes fixed meaning and resists the confines of language.
This work was presented at the Vashon Gallery in May of 2025, along with Fox’s The Bodies, a series of manipulated Polaroid scans, and their handmade collage book, Corpus.
